I have exactly the same problem as sam.
Searching in dash i super slow, but everything else runs smoothly.
I have this problem on both an AMD Phenom and an Intel i5.

Hi
I get exactly this problem but I don't get any other slow downs in
Unity. To me the problem appears to be in Dash. When I am typing a
search term, the displaying of the letters typed is 2-3 seconds after

As per my comment, this isn't a Unity issue but an issue with the intel
OK, this appears to be MOSTLY due to the bug #761065, referenced at:

Applying the 'fix' noted in comment #16 corrects a 'microhang' problem
that I was having that seems to have caused the 'lockup' portion of
this.
