If it helps, I also experienced this on my AMD64 system. After a fresh
install I ran a dist-upgrade and rebooted. On reboot I ran sudo
aptitude install mozilla-plugin-gnash, restarted Firefox and went to
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/ to test flash. The flash
section turned black, then
Fixed Upstream.

It works for me just fine on 32 bit FX 2.0 Edgy with Flash 9 Beta 2.
