ok... here is what I see...
Displayport:
Desktop Extend: doesnot work...
Only in External Display: everything crashes
VGA:
Desktop Extend: Works as expected
Only in External Display: doesnot work
@si14, can you please tell me which kernel are you using... I don't see any
kernel update via updat
For the others effected, does your VGA port also do the same thing? I
get the same behaviour (desktop extends but monitor doesn't show
anything) on both VGA and DisplayPort.

I am having the exact same problem... However after I plug out the
displayport I think I am getting the mouse pointer back in the laptop
screen. However everything else remains black.

Fwiw, I had the same problem, but also couldn't get things working in
Windows. I updated the Intel drivers in Windows and now it works in
Ubuntu. The updated drivers must be updating the firmware or something.
Frustrating that one needs to update in Windows, but at least it is a
plausible workaro
Here is it. This time I saw a little part of unity bar on the left side
of screen, but everything other was completely black.
