The bunch of defunct xmms packages were removed and will not be in
intrepid (8.10). If you have an working patch for this bug, we could do
an stable release update for gutsy, feisty and dapper. Please nominate
for a release, if so.

Obviously in January 2007 xmms was still a real package. However, yes,
as of 8.04 I see that xmms (base) was removed. There are still a bunch
of defunct xmms packages in the tree however. Which is nice for those
of us who got xmms and installed it from source.

Ubuntu better. Unfortunately xmms was removed since Ubuntu 8.04 "Hardy
Heron" because it was unmaintained. xmms-xf86audio was removed too. So
we will not fix your bug. You can use audacious instead. It is an fork
