The bunch of defunct xmms packages were removed and will not be in
intrepid (8.10). If you have an working patch for this bug, we could do
an stable release update for gutsy, feisty and dapper. Please nominate
for a release, if so.

Obviously in January 2007 xmms was still a real package. However, yes,
as of 8.04 I see that xmms (base) was removed. There are still a bunch
of defunct xmms packages in the tree however. Which is nice for those
of us who got xmms and installed it from source.
