This issue is still unresolved, and affects both Ubuntu 11.04 and Ubuntu
11.10 when attempting to install on SATA hard drives in stripe set
through on-board NVIDIA SATA RAID controller.

Ya, this is no fun.
I have an HP rp5700 with an onboard SATA RAID controller
Can't get past the GRUB install part.
Grub install error but the installer does not crash.
IS there a way to finish the grub ins

Installing Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop 64-bit and afterwards upgrading to 11.04
worked fine. Now if the installer on the Ubuntu 11.04 CD would also work
on a RAID disk set...

In case it helps to cross-reference, I have included the files

successful installation of Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop 64-bit on the same
computer.
