I use the defaults for edgy. this is a 1280x800 screen, but I am using
a second screen with xinerama. I don't recall this ever happening when
working on a single screen. no transparent panel, no background image,
and not sure about the masking, but I definitely didn't change any of
the defaults tha

What sort of settings do you use for that panel (transparent panel?
background image? width? scaled? automatically masked?)

edgy. it happens with the gaim, skype and gnome-power-manager icons.
these all happen to be at the right of the right-most separator in the
upper notification area. the volume-applet and the network monitor,
which are besides these, don't have this problem otherwise.

Thank you for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use? Does it
happen with launchers, applets, notification are icons? Marking low
importance, that looks a minor point
