I would like to confirm the bug. It happens on Xubuntu 12.10. The
workaround from Matthias Kretz solved it. (I had to replace SIGHUP with
1 - then it worked. It took me weeks to locate that problem - it should
be fixed!

Attached is a solution to the problem. It might be better to fix it in
atd itself (i.e. use something different than sleep, or install a signal
handler).
