Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed
Comment #12 indicates fix is available, although I can't reproduce here.
Gonna mark as invalid for Unity, as its confirmed in Compiz (Buntu)

It was confirmed that indicator-multiload causes memory leak in compiz
see bug #779717.
They have a version of unity in their ppa that is patched to work with
indicator-multiload.
Looks like this is unity bug.

I have never used that indicator on the two machines that deal with the

Confirmed. On default settings it behaves properly. Memory leak starts
when I disable Grid or enable window preview if this is of any help. At
8h uptime memory usage reaches 1GB and unity gets restarted all time by
itself.

Confirmed. Starts out lightweight but keeps on growing. I haven't had it
become catastrophic yet but it has been taking up more resources than it
is welcome to.
A possible related problem is bug 779185 where one of Unity's components
is slowly leaking out RAM as well.
