Is there a work around? It's been a year with no icon even though multiple
firefox updates.
Is the above suggesting I have to install chrome to get an icon into firefox? I
don't have chrome currently.

The chromium icon start firefox, so i pull the chromium icon from the
launcher. One login later firefox got his icon back, think there is a
quirk between the chromium and firefox package.
