Was able to reboot, which brought up Natty (presumably with incomplete
configuration).
Google search for error suggested that google talk plugin was the
problem. Therefore uninstalled the plugin:
sudo aptitude remove google-talkplugin
And was then able to run full-upgrade successfully.
