I can reproduce the same phenomenon (kded4 goes wild, has to be killed) in this
way:
* KDE Networkmanager Applet connected to any WLAN, connect to any VPN-Network
(vpnc)
do either
1 disconnect or reconnect the wlan connection when vpn is running
or
2 disconnect the vpn connection
Kded4 goes imme
I can easily reproduce this bug, so I can help, just tell want you want
to fix it

I confirm.
I have Kubuntu 11.04 i686 with KDE 4.6.2-0ubuntu4, and if my modem disconnect
from network kded4 eat 100% cpu.

I can reproduce this in the following way:
- Connect to network using wvdial to control hspda modem and make sure that
kded4 is running
- Interrupting wvdial makes that process exit, but network connection is still
on (pppd does not exit)
- Kill pppd
As a result of this, kded4 goes wild eating 10
I confirm this bug. And my processor is intel core duo. So it affects
not only amd architecture.

without problems. Sounds like you might be able to mark this as
invalid, if I can't manage to reproduce it.

back into Unity, but this time kded4 isn't running.

To clarify, whatever the "Unknown Program" is that Ubuntu is warning me
is still running at shutdown, it wasn't kded4. I still got the message
after killing the process.
