I've got the same problem with suspend and hibernate on 2.6.38-10
kernel... it says that it has started saving the snapshot to disk and
hangs right there.

After installing the Ubuntu 11.10 upcoming kernel, 2.6.39-3, my system
is able to suspend to disk/ram like before (on 10.10)

s2disk fails
On my system, it never even starts... it used to go into text mode and
print some message on the screen about saving the snapshot... now it
does not do anything.
If I run "sudo strace s2disk", it gets stuck at open("/dev/snapshot",
O_RDONLY).
