After such a crash the theme defaults back to some old version and the
system can not be shut down regularly. Logging out and logging back in a
couple of time usually fixes that.

Well there's no command or anything you can use to figure it out...just
continue using the operating system and see if it still freezes after
periodic usage.
Hmm...I never received such an error when I updated the kernel, so I'm
not really sure what that means.
