It seems that you're not pressing the keys in the right way. The way you are
doing it, shows the desktop but in the mean time opens the Dash as well, which
requires Escape Key to close.
Hold the Super-key and then while holding it press D. It works fine this way.

Thanks for taking time in making Ubuntu better.
This is clearly not a Bug. The function of Super+D is to minimize all the
opened windows and show the desktop. And Unity Launcher is the part of the
Desktop.
