The fixed bins work for me also.
Is "its totally broken on this arch" sufficient reason to add it to one
of the updates repos?

I'm having the same problem on Edgy. I managed to get a crash dump
automatically generated by the Ubuntu bug reporter, but it doesn't seem
to have much information. I've attached it.
I followed the directions on the DebuggingProgramCrash page on the
Ubuntu wiki, but there's no tightvncserver packa

I did a fresh install of 6.10 server amd64 and saw the same results just
last night (Dec 19th, 2006). I'm switching to a 32bit setup as I need
tightvncserver running for something today but for the maintainer or
others trying to get this going have a look at:
