Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: checkbox
Launch System Testing from System > Administration. Click Next. The
user is asked for eir password for elevation. If the user clicks the
cancel button, the program hangs, displaying "Gathering information from
your system" and progress bar bouncing from left to right, and the
application cannot be closed with the "X" button in the top left. Only
Force Quit can terminate the application.

I can duplicate this easily.
