I'm seeing the same problem on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5749 Core I-3 4GB
RAM 500GB HDD) with Ubuntu Precise 12.04 (64bit).
# lspci | grep -i ethernet
ian@LAPTOP:~$ lspci | grep -i ethernet

I think I might have this same bug. But the suggested workaround does
not work for me.
I have this setup:
Ubuntu 12.10 64bit (fully up to date)
# lspci | grep -i ethernet
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM57760 Gigabit
Ethernet PCIe (rev 01)
And the problem is this
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

This a driver issue, where the driver doesn't properly handle being set
to power management mode by laptop-mode tools.
Opening a bug task for laptop-mode and linux, we may want to not try to
