I have exactly the same experience with nvidia-current
270.41.06-0ubuntu1 and compiz 1:0.9.4+bzr20110415-0ubuntu2. It only
happens with gaussian blur, not with neither mipmap nor 4xbilinear.

OK, now if I modify the shadow settings in "Window Decorator" it really
affects the windows and the blur effect has improved BUT it still gives
me graphical glitches under the shadows. This was working perfectly with
ATI drivers 11.3 and out-of-the-box compiz under Lucid.
