I keep having errors on IDE disk. I'm trying with a new SATA but It
seems not supported with kernel. Right now I'm testing on Feisty.

It looks to me like you have some disk corruption or something. These
symptoms are definitely not caused by broken package dependencies. Is
your computer otherwise reliable ?

I renamed /var/lib/dpkg/status-old to /var/lib/dpkg/status and everything
works, even when i reinstall xserver-xorg-video-imstt
