Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut
should be a small usability issue , in the default Ubuntu 9.10 install ,
that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't
be addressed as part of the project.

I have the same problem with an external usb HD with ntfs FS.
I don't know how to see the system logs about that.
I have installed ntfs-3g and I had to mount it manually.

Unless the initial reporter has installed usbmount (it's an alternative
usb mounting script in the universe repository), it's not usbmount.
