I finally found out what was causing the crash, i have mixed in debian
packages to get the latest and greatest apps, this is obviously not a
good idea :-p
I found under /usr/local/lib
pygtk
python2.4
python2.5
which was debris from a earlier debian package update, and apparently
when upgrading
Indeed, mixing up debian and ubuntu packages isn't a good idea =)
I'll close this report, since this isn't a problem with the ubuntu python
package.

I'm sorry, i can't. But i can give you a list of python packages i have
installed on my system (i got it via dpkg -l | grep python).
