I have here the same issue sometimes when I boot up (i've installed)
the applications installed on my computer isn't showed by unity, the
unique tick can I do is call the applications on terminal!!!

You should run the update-manager to update the unity packages, it has
been implemented since then. I also have a natty alpha2 installed, and
with all updates, the applications place works as expected.
