these for me.

I had the same issue and realized I was on the vesa driver. Now I've
changed to radeon and instead of the same lines you are seeing I now see
a sequence of white blocks at the top of the dash itself.
If this is a driver issue, it appears to be something that unity is
doing when drawing various se
