It just happened to me in precise. I am doing regular updates etc. After
killing it everything looks fine.

It also happens here. Mostly when I put my laptop to sleep and wake it
back up again. Doesn't happen every time though. Running 11.10. What
kind of debug info do you need?

According to top in 11.10 AMD64 the problem is still periodically
present, unity-service-panel always consumes 10% CPU and can use 100%
until I manually restart it.
