I am running Kubuntu8.04 and get a crash when I try to set up a dsl
connection. interestingly, if i start the connection with pon knet will
monitor it for me but i would like to set it up and start it via knet

For me this has been still an issue just last week when I installed another
machine (not my own).
We've had difficulties in getting the internet connection to work (with someone
whom I'd rather not explain the shell). Therefor I've not tried to manually
tweak directory names or install software
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
for you? Thanks in advance.

Seems to be next reincarnation of

But now the correct directory is not /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.4b1, but only
/usr/lib/pppd/2.4.4. At least on my installation the 2.4.4b1 is missing.
