Is the still a problem in hardy? Does this happens everytime when a
certain sequence of steps is followed? Could you please note down the
exact sequence of steps, and I will forward the report to the developers
of gdm.

I'm fairly sure this bug is still present in feisty. If you have a
currently locked session, and then attempt to rejoin it from gdm, you
have to enter a password at gdm, and then again to unlock the session.
