no. Zhang Zengbo's test case (#115602) isn't applicable to my issue, but
it's close to it.
I start Thunderbird, then I setup an account with the option "check for
mails automatically" disabled

please excuse me that I didn't reply earlier. For me the situation is now like

I uninstalled thunderbird (using synaptic), downloaded thunderbird directly
from mozilla site and installed this

Hello Noutro,
Thank you for the bug report, can I ask if you are using a different
language pack with Thunderbird? There have been other reports similar to
this which have failed on install as they couldn't write language pack
files with a non-superuser.
