[Maverick] Inconsistent permissions for .desktop files

I've removed the executive bit from the other .desktop files, except
from gnome-alsamixer to visual show what I mean. Side note, all symbols
of those launchers have been changed on the panel and aren't identical
with the ones shown in ~/.gnome2/panel2.d/default/launchers.

Right click on panel -> add to panel -> add a starter 'as copy from the
applications menu'.
e.g. Firefox, Gedit
+ Then change the symbol of the launcher.
