Changing to two separate lines doesn't make any difference.
I've found that dmesg is saying that wpa_suplicant is segfaulting. I've not
noticed that before.
I can't see anything that relates to avah

The full output of 'ifconfig -a' will be helpful in determining which
interface name is being using for your ndiswrapper device as it will
show all the interfaces available to your system. Additionally it would
be interesting to see what happens if you change "auto lo wlan0" in your
'/etc/network/
Actually, I should have said that with eth1 the session hangs after log
in, not the entire machine. I can get to a console with Ctrl-Alt-F1

In the attached file the wireless interface is referred to as wlan0,

Well, yes. In the sense that Edgy remained unusable on my laptop and I
upgraded to Feisty as soon as possible to see if that resolved things.
But I still haven't been able to get a WPA connection working under
Feisty.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for
you? Thanks in advance.

I'm happy to provide any other information you require, though I'm now
restircted to the command line since updating edgy further (via a wired
connection) seems to have screwed up my gnome desktop.

Thanks for this additional information.
Could you please try to install the package "ndiswrapper-utils-1.8" and
check if that helps and fixes the problem? This sounds like it might be
a duplicate of #59983.

Do you use ndiswrapper to get your wireless network going? What does:

Thanks,

Thanks for your bugreport.
What kind of wireless do you use? Can you attach the output of dmesg to
this bugreport please (run "dmesg > dmesg.log" in terminal). This sounds
like a problem with either the kernel or ndiswrapper.
Cheers,
Michael
