Hm, after some more tests it seems like it's not that easy, so forget
about what I said.
I've linked the upstream bug report. Maybe someone will come up with a
workaround there…

Unfortunately I won't be able to reproduce your results since I've
upgraded to 11.04. It looks like gnome-shell is only a virtual package
in the default repos and can't be installed without PPA or other
repo...which means I wouldn't be using the version for which the bug was
reported. Hopefully t
Okay, I have to correct myself: This might actually be a firefox bug,
since other non-GTK3 applications (namely Eclipse and KDevelop) don't
cause the wakeup to fail.
Mike, can you try to reproduce my results?

I'm having the same issue and did a few tests.
1. No open windows → wakeup from suspend works fine
2. Empathy, Evolution, Nautilus opened → wakeup works
3. Firefox opened → wakeup fails
Seems like this bug only occurs when non-GTK3 applications are running.
