OK, using gnome desktop.

There is not an advanced setting in my menu...moreover the official
guide that comes with edgy says :
"Windows and other partitions should be automatically available from any
Ubuntu system. If they are not, you can enable them using the graphical
disks tool.

Please check if you have the advanded-button in the menu bar. if so,
There should be the disks menu located in advanced.
