I was too optimistic in my comment just above.
The freezing occurred two times since that. Recently with Lucid, today with
Natty beta 2. Of course the machine is the same as before:
Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO Pro V3205
with a 2-core Intel processor and
Intel 945 GM chipset.

Since that time (very beginning of January 2011) the problem with system
freezing did not occur. I did not make any change to essential software
components of the machine except installing official updates. Hence I
guess that the bug might got fix by some of the issued updates. Anyway I

Yes, the issue remains. Last time it occurred a week ago or so. I
typically boot the machine one time per day. As soon as the problem
happens again I will send the apport-collect report. After that I will
try to test the latest upstream kernel.

Hi Martin,
This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it
recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the
latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

Sadly, I must say that since my original report few days ago the system
freezes typically at every third boot. I also determined that the 3G
datacard was not the cause of the problem.
