Still, there is an important problem in ubuntu and it is that lyx in
ubuntu is compiled with assertions turned on, even if it is not a debug
version but the "production" release. See bug #82365.

Lyx 1.4.3 has been backported to edgy, you can find it in the backports
archive and I strongly recommend you to use that version - it's much
less bugged, I use it every day for my work. I don't think anyone is
actively maintaining lyx in ubuntu, so this bugs will just be
"naturally" fixed in feisty
This happens very frequently to me. It is typically, or always, when I
am returning to the LyX window from another application (actually,
virtual desktop page) and the first key I press in LyX is some
navigation key (arrow, pageup/down, etc).
I'm still on Edgy with Lyx 1.4.2.
Anyone else getting
LyX crashed for me spontaneously (I think after a navigation key press as
well), with:
Assertion triggered in Point CoordCache::get(const LyXText*,
lyx::pit_type) by failing check "posit != it->second.end()" in file
../../src/coordcache.C:64
I'm using LyX 1.4.2 July 13 2006 on Edgy.

This and many other bugs seem to have been fixed in newer lyx version,
which IMHO should be urgently uploaded to edgy if it's possible. The old
version can really stop lyx users from use edgy, by making lyx unusable
on this release. Also, the lyx import feature is disabled in edgy, while
