I got a similar oops. Colin had the same advise. I got the .iso again,
burned on a new CD, I even got a new cd drive - but similar results. The
CD check was good too.
I'll do some new installs in a bit and get new logs.

I have got a Core 2 Duo 6400 on a Asus P5B Deluxe Wifi with 2 SATA DVD-
Drives and one SATA hdd, the SATA controller is in AHCI mode because it
doesn't boot in IDE mode.
I am using Ubuntu Edgy Eft RC1 and it is booting from CD very well (it
takes about 5 min.).
I thought that too and checked the cd with the md5 codes on the cd and
found no errors on it.
