If you're talking about the update of openssl from 0.9.8o-1ubuntu4.1 to
0.9.8o-1ubuntu4.2, I haven't installed those yet but still get the
problem, so I think it's irrelevant.

MSN updated their certificate on 2010-11-15 it seems. You can replace
the one in Pidgin explicitly:

Restarting pidgin solves this for me ...
