I had this its was a simple permissions error for me... one slip of the
recursive and "oh what a mess!"
the key was the ownership of:
/home/yourusr/.thunderbird/yh4qaf5v.default/Mail/pop.google.mail/Sent
and
/Sent.msf
if the permissions are not set for yourusr to write to them you will
