I'll try to add the options in modprobe.d to see if it also solve the problem

Using Kubuntu Desktop, upgraded from Ubuntu 6.06 to Ubuntu 6.10 via
"update-manager -c".
Whenever a KDE application calls aRTS (if I am in another Window
Manager) or during aRTS startup (when I'm entering KDE) the system hangs
for a few minutes. After that a message box appears saying

I also think it's the same. At least the bugfix/workaround "options snd-via82xx
dxs_support=2" does work for me (the initial bug reporter).

I have a desktop, suffering the same problem, and an HP nx6110 notebook,
which has no problem. I've tested both using with the Kubuntu 6.10 final
live-cd.
