I have identical symptoms on Intrepid, intel based notebook and ATI

Random system lockup on video playback

I have the same/a similar problem, running xubuntu (6.10,
2.6.17-10-generic) on an Acer TravelMate C102TCi Tablet PC. In my case

** Description changed:
I'm getting random system lockups on playing back video (confirmed with
mp4, wmv, aspx, flv, m4v) with all my players (MPlayer, VLC, Xine,
Democracy TV player and MPlayer plugin in Swiftfox). It can happen at
different places or not at all with the same video clip.
