Perhaps the bug title should be changed. The KDE look isn't restricted
to resuming. It happens on boot, restart - more than half the time. It
takes many log outs to reset it back to Gnome.
I installed BUM (boot up manager) - should I enable the boot log?
This bug is getting to be really annoying
Another piece of the puzzle - when the KDE desktop appears, going to
Preferences/Appearance resets the desktop back to Gnome, although
Nautilus still has the KDE look along with all the folders.

It only happened once in Natty, but it's getting worse in Maverick. I
noticed that I had Akonaditray installed, and got rid of it, along with
everything else KDE based that didn't appear to be essential.

Hi Christopher,
If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-

Due to the complexity of this bug I am setting it as New (so the kernel

I noticed today (it happened twice) that there was a perceptible delay
before loading the second panel - as if the system were trying to
interpret what to load - before the panels switched to KDE.
It likely happened on previous occurrences, but as it happened twice I

I have an issue when resuming from suspend. The panel icons are all KDE
and other apps, such as the update manager also display in KDE.
The odd part is that I have two partitions; both now running Maverick,
I've tried a few - including Ambiance on both, but both are currently
running Radiance.
It just occurred to me that as far as I can recall this has never
happened, on either my desktop or netbook.

Also, please run (through Terminal) "apport-collect 665576" -
immediately after resuming from suspend (when the issue is present) -
preferably complete this on the Natty partition (if the issue is present
on this partition).
Thanks.

It would be helpful to clarify what appearance settings (under System >
Preferences > Appearance) you have for both the Maverick and Natty
partitions.
Thanks.

Here's the Maverick output: I get the first two lines when updating and
doing other terminal things as well.

Sorry - I see what I missed. Here's the Natty output. I'm going to
reboot and do the same in Maverick.

Sorry for the confusion. I have two partitions; one running the latest
stable version (Maverick) and the other dedicated to testing Alphas.
The latter periodically gets reformatted as sometimes there are bugs

partition that is
Hello Christopher,
I am a bit confused: in the description we see references for Ubuntu
10.10 (kernel 2.6.35) and Ubuntu 11.04 (kernel 2.6.37). A reference in
the description points to at least an upgrade from 9.10.
Additionally, I do not see, in the attached data, any reference to the

please run (through Terminal) "apport-collect 665576".
Also, please could you attach the output from running "dpkg -l \*icon\*

Yes - the panels move a fraction then turn into KDE. Logging out and in

Thank you for opening this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. Does this
issue occur every time you resume from suspend? You say that you are
able to replicate the bug, if this is true are there any similarities
you notice each time this problem occurs?
