There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the
bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. If
you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.04), this

linux-source-2.6.15 task should be invalid because there is no 2.6.15 kernel in
Ubuntu 9.04.
That's why I've opened a new Linux task.

The problem still exists in Ubuntu 9.04 - Jaunty Jackalope with a HP
Compaq 6735s notebook.
The fan can be manually silenced via:
echo 3 > /proc/acpi/fan/FAN3/state
but somehow, the modified script (FAN3 required here) from above isn't
executed when put in /etc/acpi/resume.d/99-turn-off-fan.sh.
Re-opening because the bug still occurs on Ubuntu 9.04 - Jaunty
Jackalope. Attached requested ACPI debugging info.

one thing that makes me boot to windows. I don't know if my laptop acts
in the same way with the certain temperatures but the fan comes on and
won't shut off; happens after every suspend and resume. Toshiba

Thanks very much, but I returned that computer and got another. Anyway,
the script would not have worked because there was no acpi fan control
in that bios.
Thanks again...
