Thanks very much for the additional feedback. I can now confirm this
bug on Maverick using inkscape_0.48.0-1ubuntu1. Unfortunately, you
didn't install the Inkscape debugging symbols, so the backtrace doesn't
give much useful information. I have rerun the backtrace on my machine,

Oh, I forgot to mention one important point. Inkscape crashes only
during the PDF export when u+ffef is the first character in an textbox.
This can also be reproduced with Inkscape 0.48 shipped with Maverick.
Here is the backtrace created with Inkscpae 0.47 on Ubuntu 10.04.1:
