I was able to successfully execute firmware tool on another system.
Yet the bug, though minor, is still valid since a user should expect a
meaningful message stating that the program should be executed with the
needed privileges, i.e. as root.

I can confirm this when executed as a normal user.
When executed under sudo I get:
Config Error: Plugin "buildpkg_cmd" cannot be loaded: No module named
firmware_extract
