the problem is in telepathy-gabble for gtalk only *but* facebook using
the google talk implementation in empathy is treated that way too. for
msn your status is actually invisible. facebook in empathy does not

This bug can be reproduced by signing in to an IM account using Empathy
(in my case MSN and Facebook Chat) and selecting the desired status to
be 'Invisible' from the Indicator Applet Session Utility. Instead of
switching to the 'Invisible' status as expected, both the applet and the
main Empathy
