the symlink is still kept for applications hardcoding /usr/X11R6/bin. I
did check that /usr/X11R6/bin isn't included in the user PATH with our
default setup, so this should only be visible with existing/non-standard
setups. A workaround could be to check for the symlink and only add
/usr/X11R6/bin
