I stopped shotwell, moved the pictures from the 102_PANA directory to
the 101_PANA directory and restarted shotwell. Now shotwell saw all
four pictures.

I am seeing the same problem but with a Kingston 8GB SD card. Four JPEG
files on the card, but shotwell is only showing one. I am attaching a
screenshot.
The SD card was written by a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 camera. There are
no .thumbnails directories.

Hi,
The screenshot you've supplied is listing the files in the
DCIM/.thumbnails directory. Can you provide a screenshot of the files
in the DCIM directory, so we can see the filenames? Also, before you
take the screenshot, can you enable viewing titles in Shotwell (View ->
Titles)? Thanks.
