Well, I do not know in what world you live. Most computers I tried DO NOT
WAKE UP AFTER SUSPEND on Ubuntu, any version. It is so frequent that few
people even try to install Ubuntu on a laptop - simply because on a desktop
it is easier to live with that, you can just systematically turn it off.

My Asus seems to work fine, with all xubuntu versions since 8.04. Of
course, maybe it just isn't new enough to have issues with suspend. I
have been unable to reproduce this issue, myself. I have one laptop and
two desktops that seem to be able to wake from suspend.

i have been using ubuntu consistently since 2006-2007 and i have never
owned a computer that would wake from sleep. it is a pretty annoying bug

My Acer Extensa now has problems waking up from sleep with 9.10 64 bit.
There was no issue on this subject using 8.10 or 9.04 32 bit with the
same laptop. When I open up my laptop hit a key to wake the computer, I
have to wait for it to noisily check my empty DVD drive before it will

I have something interesting to report.
I did an apt-get update, apt-get dist-upgrade today. Down came the
2.6.27-3 generic. The machine still doesn't wake up after suspend,
(with or without the noapic acpi=force irqpoll) BUT, the computer was on
and running doing its regular thing when the batt

Ok, I doubt that bug in the last post is related at all; it is some
known bug that a lot of people have reported already.
I added noapic acpi=force irqpoll back onto my kernel parameters with
the 2.6.27-2-generic kernel and I managed to get an error message when I
pressed the suspend button.

I am having the same issue on my z60t. Dapper worked fine for me but
after the upgrade the system would go into suspend and not come out.
Also, note that hibernate works fine for me. I have tried both the 386
and generic kernels to no avail.
