I have been told that 2.6.35 does not have the bug.
As a workaround on Lucid, try blacklisting phonet,
namey have a file in /etc/modprobe.d named blacklist-phonet.conf with
blacklist cdc_phonet
blacklist phonet

that's why it's not panicking without it.

Same here.
On browser exit, the whole machine goes into a hard lockup, with mouse cursor
freezing, display freezing, network freezing keyboard leds flashing.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on Thinkpad R50e

Honestly, I am not certain of a real fix but you could perhaps try some
of the beta or daily release builds of Chromium to see if that helps
your problem.
