upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.

I can confirm this problem. I have read about it in other places, and it
doesn't sound like it is specific to any type of laptop.
But if it is, I have a Fujitsu Lifebook S2110. my brightness buttons used to
work (in dapper). I edited the brightness levels in gconf and nothing
happened.
Also
i am available for any testing on my system.
just drop me a line and i can try, is not a production machine and i can try
whatever on it.
For me is important that edgy works fine since i am trying to switch totally to
linux and laptop is the only pc that still performs better in winzoze than in
trying other acpi modules failed as well..
seems that edgy support for panasonic ACPI is b0rked.

found that PCC_ACPI is not loaded at bootup, sony_acpi is loaded instead.
blacklisted sony_acpy and modprobbed pcc_acpi doesn't show any /proc/acpi/pcc
so no hotkey or brighness support is available.
moreover is impossible to change screen brightness since is in
/proc/acpi/video/VGA0/LCD/brightn
Multiple problems. Marking as gnome-power-manager bug for now.
