I have exactly the same symptoms: I type something, nothing appears, I
move the mouse and the text is there. Also the system monitor stops
updating, I move the mouse or press a key it updates again. This every
second or so.
Using 2.6.32 fixes this for me. Also suspend and hybernate only work

I have also noticed an interesting fault.
If I run "top -d1", the list of processes is supposed to be updated
periodically about once a second.
This is not happening. Some times is it taking 3 or 4 seconds to update.
