Yes I got two plain users in lpadmin jol and joakim:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ grep "lpadmin" /etc/group
lpadmin:x:106:joakim,jol,root
jol is my NIS user name at work not defined in /ets/passwd and joakim is
the local user I use at home. jol and joakim happens to have the same
uid too so I can share f
Do you have multiple user accounts on your system?
Are you a member of lpadmin group? Run the following command to find out (you
username should be listed):
$ grep "lpadmin" /etc/group
Could you post the terminal output that asked for your password.

I am using Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake desktop with all updates installed
on a Travelmate 3002WTMi. I have checked and I have the gksu package
version 1.3.7 installed. I do get the password dialog in other
applications that needs root access.

Which version of Ubuntu do you have installed?
As well, is the gksu package installed? This is required for you to be
prompted for the root password.
